Final project
.This is my final project in this class. For my final, I decided to make more of a political statement. I wanted to show how divided our country is at this point in time. To do this, my image is a grayscale Bald Eagle bound by cloth with protest signs in the back, most of which are contradicting one another. In this project I will be testing my skill in animal proportions and value.
I wish that I had found a better way of drawing the stars on the flag, I probably could have found a stencil do that they didn't look as derpy. However, I believe that my skill in value is getting better, also I have surprised myself with the proportions of the bird. I also believe that I handled the space very well.

Think outside the box
In this project we are using colored pencils to create an image but we also need to incorporate a small square from a magazine. The colors should match up so it makes it difficult to see the magazine image. It was a bit difficult for me, maybe it was because I chose a grass block and that's a lot of textures. I don't know what happened to the magazine image, but it seems to have gotten lighter in color. I don't think it affected the outcome by much but it did cause some problems, because making something lighter with colored pencils after making it relatively dark isn't easy. Noted for future reference, start off light then go darker slowly.
House
This week I have been working on making a home from floor planning to designing. I ended up doing a little redesigning on my floor plan, because when I was drawing it out from the outside view some of it didn't look right. My house was designed in thought of it built primarily inside of a mountain, however I wanted to show what it would look like if it wasn't. I drew this house in 2 point perspective, which means that I had 2 vanishing points and that we'er looking at an edge.
Prospective practice
This week I had done some perspective drawing practice. 1 point, 2 point and 3 point perspective. I learned that depending on the point is what you're looking at, for example 1 point is a face, 2 point is an edge, and 3 point is a vertex. All of them have a horizon and vanishing point(s). The number of vanishing points dictates what point perspective it is.
Abstract art piece
In this project I attempted an abstract piece. personally I felt lost doing this even though I had a guide to help. However, I still tried my best to use gradation, direction, and organic shapes and still crate a sense of unity.
Alebrijes -clay project
I This week we learned how to make clay sculptures. We learned the pinch pot method and how to put two pinch pots together using scratch and slip method. Alebrijes are creatures made up of different animals, mine are supposed to be bat wings, fox body, deer antlers, and rat tail. I did something a little different for the belly, I originally wanted fish scales but I liked the rock-like textures. I did have problems with the wings but I was able to smooth out the cracks and fix the missing antler before putting it in the kiln.
Semester Exam Project
For my Semester exam I did a acrylic painting based around my fathers marriage. I had the couple as a silhouette, which was surprisingly difficult, and everything in this painting is based off of pictures that I took myself. I honestly had fun painting this even though there was difficulties with the finer details. I know that the picture of the painting isn't the greatest but I add more detail to the couple by using a sharpie to outline their arms and clothes. To do the paper tear look, I tore a paper the way I liked it, taped it to the canvis, and painted over it. and to add texture to that look I dabbed white paint to give it a more realistic look.
Self portrait
In this project I made a self portrait with some symbolism. Here I tested my skill of proportions and shading. Starting with the trees, for me I like to go on walks in the woods. The pencil symbolises my love for making art. Now the chained collar, I have spent a lot of my life not being able to say no or stand my ground on anything but I have been working on gaining my freedom hince the broken chain. Working one link at a time.
Drawing people practice run
Last week we practice proportions and value for faces. I didn't have a reference for my face but I think I did well. However, the eyes could use more work.
Impressionism painting
I will be doing an impressionism painting for this project. In this painting I will be practising the use of texture. The first three pictures I will try to combined them. I found the first one online and I took the other two myself while walking around my hometown.
Using a slight combination of realism with impressionism left me with (what I believe to be) an interesting painting.

Side note, wished I made the chair a bit larger. Also I wanted to update as I went but I was so focused that I lost track of time, so instead it's just the finished product this time.

Value drawing
This week I will be trying to use value and draw this cute waterhated spider. The first picture is not mine but I will be using this photo as a reference.
Personally, I feel that I could have done better with the darkest tones and my proportions isn't spot on but I didn't do horrible, also my spider isn't facing the right way and by the time I noticed I was too far along, but tried to make the best out of it anyway.

My first bookbinding
In this project, I made my own book through binding. I will be using this one for my art class. The cover was made by a scrap piece of fabric glued to two pieces of cardboard. I used watercolors to paint my endpages and glued that to the inside of my cover. Finely I hand stitched my signatures into my cover and endpage to make my book.
I tried to sketch on my cover and it didn't turn out the way I expected. The cloth made it more difficult to shade and proportion the tree correctly. However, this project was fun! I believe I will be making more of these.
